The Story of The Druid Pack
on Friday, July 29, 2011

Today, I will tell you a story of war,  desire, and ruling Lamar (In Yellowstone National Park) between two wolf packs-the Druids and the Sloughs. The Druid pack was a strong pack of 36. They had a great leader, an old wolf. The leader of a wolf pack is called the alpha wolf. A friend of the pack, the Casanova, wanted to join the pack, but the alpha male of the pack didn't allow that. After a few days the alpha male was growing weak. One day, another pack of wolfs called the Sloughs knew that the alpha male was too weak to keep up the pack so the sloughs challenged the Druids in battle. Whichever pack won the battle would take over Lamar. The battle was harsh. Snapping jaws, slashing claws, and blood flying all over the place. Finally, the Sloughs had won, and the Druids retreated. Only two of the Druids (they were females) survived with all the cuts and scrapes. The Casanova also became a Druid with his brother. Then that left four druids. Then, in spring, the two female druids had pups. Little by little they had 13 pups in all. Meanwhile, the Sloughs were having trouble with thier own pups. The pups were dying from a virus in Lamar. Only one pup had survived. The Sloughs retreated immediately. When the Druid pups were almost adults, the pack came back to Lamar and howled for a challenge, but there was no reply.
